The protagonists of the project
Our project includes the involvement of three main actors: young people from poor neighborhoods, international volunteers and coordinators who organize the work and activities.
Young people from poor areas between the ages of 18 and 24 years old often feel pressured to abandon their studies in order to help sustain their families. The Pacheco Community Center helps them to learn a trade in gardening and landscaping and provides the tools and space for production.
The volunteers that come from different parts of the world to exchange knowledge and experience and to work alongside the community members create a mutual spirit of solidarity. They take part in establishing connections in natural and relaxing surroundings.
The teachers and coordinators, professionals in their respective areas, impart classes, both theoretical and practical, to the young students. They also help in the immersion of volunteers and are an invaluable part for the organization of different classes and events that take place at Pacheco Community Center.
Besides the involvement of these groups, the place is open to the community offering social activities like workshops in art, cooking, gardening and yoga classes.
